Why should you use the Shunt Clamp.
The Shunt Clamp is for the first weld of the panel.  Many technicians clean all 4 sides for the first weld. If it going to corrode it will be where the first weld was done.  By using  the Shunt Clamp you will weld through the e-coating or glue. The most important with copper pads is that you cannot weld them to the panel. With today's strong inverter welders it is very easy to weld a steel clamp to the panel when you do the first weld.

When you do Weld Bonding it is more likely to weld the steel clamp to the panel due to higher resistance. You will need the Vise Grip with insulated pads to hold the two panels together without shunting the welding current.

Our Cylindrical solid-type Ratchet Cutter with a 1/4" center hole will cut down the copper electrode around the tungsten rod after it wears down.  The TUNGCORE TIP comes flat and should be maintained this way. You can dress both tips simultaneously with this double sided cutting tool while they sit in the gun. The dresser has a built in file on each side of the handle.

The Cylindrical Ratchet Cutter can be used on all makes of welders with copper rod tips and caps. Set the welder in adjustment mode for the tips/arms and turn down the air pressure. With a welder with no adjustment mode be sure to turn off or turn down the current (heat) before sharpening.
